Hike in Stunning Scenery
Still one of the best ways to enjoy the scenery that South Africa has to offer is on foot. There are plenty of hiking trails all over the country which you can embark upon. One of the most famous is the Rim of Africa hike, which takes you all the way along the Western Cape mountains. If you are looking for some shorter routes, take a trip over to the Wild Coast or the Drakensberg Mountains, where the highest peaks in South Africa are located. The trip that most people dream about making is the one to the top of Table Mountain overlooking Cape Town. Try to go early as it can end up getting very crowded during the day. Visit a UNESCO World Heritage Site
South Africa is home to eight sites which have been recognised by UNESCO as being of great cultural or natural importance. One of the most famous is Robben Island, which as many of you will already know, was the place where Nelson Mandela spent 18 of his 27 years in prison. If you are interested in ancient history, the Cradle of Humankind is a must-visit site where some fossils of our ancient ancestors were discovered. And for some spectacular and colorful sights, the Cape Floral region is home to around 9,500 plant species.
