Back in 2012, 2013 and 2014, I was living in Poland and Czechia. Sometimes I had to travel home to Croatia and back. I was a student and wanted to find the cheapest solution possible. Unfortunately, back then FlixBus didn’t operate on these routes.
I remember searching for the transportation being a real struggle. Trains were too much of a hassle and the journey was just too long, flights were way too expensive and buses…I found only Eurolines company that was going once a week Zagreb-Prague.
Expansion of a FlixBus company in 2015
I first heard of FlixBus in 2015, as a German bus company which was about to expand in 20 countries in Europe. What I liked immediately was the fact that a bus company operates the same way airlines do. You can book a ticket for over a 1000 destinations in 20 different countries in Europe, and if there is no direct bus from destination A to destination B, you can still buy a ticket for that route but you will need to transfer to another bus somewhere on the way.
And the thing that caught my attention were the prices! For example, a round trip ticket from Zagreb to Prague was 50 euros!
I also decided to try out FlixBus on my recent travel to Prague. Usually, I do not expect a great comfort when traveling by bus, but driving with FlixBus well surpassed all my expectations. Some of the features include actually working wi-fi during your whole trip. I emphasize „working wi-fi“ because most of the bus companies advertise wi-fi which barely ever works. So, that was a refreshment.
Secondly, the buses are all new and modern with each seat having its own power outlet which is great for those of us who need to work while traveling.
Third thing that pleasantly surprised me was the fact that 3 pieces of luggage are included in the price of a ticket. Wish there was that option when I was moving from Wroclaw or Prague!
Look out for promotions
FlixBus often has great promotions so it is worth it to regularly check their page. One of the best deals if you want to travel to more cities in Europe is their Interflix pass. For 99 euros you get to travel to 5 cities of your choice to one of FlixBus 1000 destinations. Also, when opening a new route, they usually offer FREE tickets!
If you are a budget-savvy traveler or just do not prefer airplanes, I fully recommend FlixBus as the best solution for traveling around Europe!
